A Note from Pastor Brian

Thanks for looking into what New Journey is all about! I'm Pastor Brian, the lead pastor here and I'd like to share with you a little bit about our church. We are a church which was planted in 2010 by two married Wesleyan pastors, Tom and Sarah Cochran with a desire to reach the lost and broken of the Wabash community. Pastor Tom and Pastor Sarah have gone on to plant more churches, but after their tenure I was hired in 2016 to lead and develop God's dreams for our ministries. If I were to sum up what we are all about, I would say following Jesus with all we've got. You will find we are made up of people who are tired of playing religious games and are ready to follow Jesus into the fullness of death to self, no matter where that will lead. We have found that an "all or nothing" approach to ministry has attracted not only the lost and broken of our community, but Christians who are hungry to engage in life transformation.

I want to share two more things.

One, we believe in and support other Christian ministries in Wabash County. I am personally close friends with the pastors of our local churches of many traditions: Friends (Alex), Non-Denominational (Solomon), Assemblies of God (Tristan), Nazarene (Kirk), Free Will Baptist (Terry), Presbyterian (Jonathan), Lutheran (Tom), and others.

Two, we seek to be a little different than our sister ministries. This isn't because we are trying to be "reactionary" or "differentiate our brand" or something unhealthy like that, but rather is because we don't want to waste time, energy, and resources on reinventing the wheel. There are many people groups being reached by the transforming power of Jesus Christ, but there are some that are not! We are here to fill in the gaps! If you take a look at our Focus Statement you will catch a glimpse of what I mean.

I hope you'll consider joining the movement God has began at New Journey!

Our Beliefs

Wesleyans believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life. We believe that those who are made new in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord's Spirit. We believe in the Bible and its sufficiency to establish our faith and conduct. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and be made new in Christ. We believe that the purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.

Our History

New Journey Community Church began preview services in 2009 and officially launched in 2010. With our astonishingly successful Trunk or Treat event, New Journey established itself as a community-first church, truly seeking to connect people who are disconnected to God and others. In 2014 New Journey brought in members from Calvary Free Will Baptist Church as they closed their doors to widen the reach of our growing church. New Journey has continued to find favor with God and the people of Wabash over time, culminating in an unexpected opportunity to purchase the old W.C. Mills Elementary School and property. This is where we continue to worship, pray, and serve today.
